The Woodlawn estate offers a variety of outdoor (and some indoor) locations for your wedding –or any festive occasion!
George Washington gave Woodlawn to his nephew, Lawrence Lewis, and his bride, Eleanor Custis, as a wedding present in 1799. Tradition credits Eleanor Custis with introducing the lace veil and white dress into wedding fashion. Throughout Mrs. Lewis’ time and into the twentieth century, Woodlawn was renowned for the gracious hospitality of its hosts and the beauty of its historic and pastoral setting. We invite you to continue this tradition by holding your own ceremony, meeting, event or reception at this beautiful estate.
